Magnetic hanging for role-play weapons

Cleaning up in schools, daycare centres and after-school clubs is a never-ending activity. Children love to play, but the subsequent tidying up is often less popular and can quickly become messy. To make it easier to stay organised, it can be a great help to create a framework that makes tidying up easy and simple. An example of this comes from an after-school programme. There, children can play with role-play weapons, as shown in the picture below. The weapons have a magnet mounted on one side. Another magnet is attached to the wooden wall and the weapons can be ‘clicked’ on and off the wall. It looks great and makes it easy for the kids to clean up after themselves. The magnets in this example are attached with duct tape, but it is also possible to use screws, pop rivets or glue, for example.

At the bottom of the page, we've listed suggestions for magnets if you want to make something similar. This is not an exhaustive list, so you may well find other magnets that are better for your project if you search our online store. The magnets used in this after-school programme have a strength of 2.4 kg.
When mounting the magnets, be aware that neodymium magnets behave like porcelain: it's hard but breaks on impact. So protect the magnet by wrapping it in, for example, gaffa tape or submerge the magnet so it is completely protected.
