Does your Quooker respond poorly when you press twice and turn the control ring? A corroded magnet could be the cause. Here, we show you how to replace the magnet in the control ring. This guide is based on a post by Reddit user "Mental_Buffalo9461".

The method is based on a Quooker model from 2019. Other models may be assembled differently, so this guide may not apply to your particular Quooker.

What you will need

About the magnet: The magnet is available with either gold or nickel plating. This does not affect how long the magnet lasts, so you can choose either version.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Disconnect the power. The tank may still contain boiling water. Do not disconnect any hoses or open the tank.
  2. Protect the surface of your Quooker. Place masking tape or a cloth between the tool and the metal.
  3. Gently lift the metal cover. Work evenly around the edge. Stop if you encounter strong resistance or if the black plastic insert starts lifting with the cover.
  4. Replace the magnet. It sits inside the black plastic ring. Remove the old magnet and any loose debris.
  5. Reassemble the ring. Make sure the two internal indentations in the metal cover line up with the magnet's position.
  6. Reconnect the power and test. Keep your hands away from the water stream. Check that the tap turns on and off normally.
