0.5 liters of chalkboard paint from MagPaint is a water-based, eco-friendly paint that transforms almost any smooth surface into a chalkboard. The paint is black and can be combined with magnetic paint, giving you a chalkboard that also works with magnets.
Properties of the Chalkboard Paint:
- Safe and eco-friendly: water-based, odorless, VOC-free, and lead-free.
- Versatile and creative: perfect for the home, office, school, or DIY projects; write and erase again and again with regular chalk (not oil-based chalk).
- Coverage: 0.5 L covers approx. 5 m² with one coat, or approx. 2.5 m² with two coats.
How to Apply Chalkboard Paint:
Equipment
Apply the paint with a paint roller. The paint can also be thinned with 10% water and applied using a paint sprayer. Clean tools with water immediately after use.
How to Apply
- Prepare the surface: Make sure the surface is smooth, dry, and free from grease, dust, rust, or loose paint. Remove old paint, fill any holes, and sand lightly if necessary. Clean with water and a little ammonia, and let the surface dry thoroughly. It’s important that the surface is as smooth and flat as possible, as this makes it easier to write on the chalkboard once finished.
- Apply magnetic paint first (optional): If you want a magnetic chalkboard, start with magnetic paint. If the board doesn’t need to work with magnets, you can skip this step.
- Stir the paint well: Mix the paint thoroughly with a stir stick to ensure even color and consistency.
- Apply the paint: Use a paint roller or foam roller depending on the surface for an even finish. Paint in long, vertical strokes, up and down. Finally, roll over in one direction to achieve uniformity.
- Multiple coats: One coat may be enough, but for better coverage, two coats are recommended. Wait at least 4 hours before applying the second coat. Optionally, sand the first coat lightly with fine sandpaper (grit 180 or 240) to make the surface perfectly smooth. Be sure to remove any dust before applying the second coat.
- Drying and curing time: The surface will be touch dry after about 30 minutes. Let the final coat cure for 3 full days before writing on it.
Care Instructions
Use and maintenance: Write on the board with regular chalk (not oil-based chalk). Clean the board with a soft, damp cloth or sponge. For thorough cleaning, use a chalkboard cleaner.
